From the Mangalam Tea Estate in the Assam region of India. Jay Shree Tea & Industries, Ltd., incorporated October 27, 1945, the third largest tea producer in the world, owns the Mangalam Tea Estate. The company is part of the B.K Birla Group, a diversified Indian industrial conglomerate. The Mangalam Tea Estate is part of the Towkok Group of Tea Estates, which also includes the Towkok estate and the Manjushree tea estates. In 1973, encouraged by extraordinarily good production results from the tea plantation "Manjushree", the owners founded another tea garden, the Mangalam Tea Estate. The Mangalam Tea Estate is named after Kumar Mangalam Birla, the son of the estate owner, and now one of the managers. Jayshree Tea & Industries is recognized for its orthodox teas, particularly its special clones that produce big gold leaf tip. The selected Assamica hybrids are planted very closely together and produce remarkably good CTC and orthodox quality black teas.
